The Clan Owners Club
The Clan Crusader Owners Club was formed in June 1978 and held the first of many gatherings at Donington Park.
In 1985 the name was change to The Clan Owners Club to welcome the owners of the two new versions, the Irish Clan and the Clan Clover, that were being produced. The Club celebrated its 30th year with a gathering of 27 Clans and 60 members on 1st June at the Coventry Transport Museum and the 40th Anniversary of the Clan Crusader in Washington on 2nd & 3rd July 2011 with 46 Clans and over 100 Members.
The current membership stands at 180 with cars and members in the UK and Europe as well as USA, Australia and New Zealand. Membership is £ 15.00 per year with family membership at £20.00.
Each year the Club attends various Classic Car and Motoring Events and holds regional meeting arranged by 8 UK area organisers. Club Members are still competing in all types of Motor Sport, including Rallying, Racing and Hill Climbing. One member, Pete Richards, has raced the same Clan in over 200 events in the last 20 Years! The original Works Rally Car which came 2nd on the 1972 Manx Rally still exists and is now owned by Club Chairman, Dave Williamson It can be seen at most shows and on selected events.
The Club produces a Quarterly Magazine and provides advice and assistance on Vehicle Maintenance. It has its own Regalia and Spares organisation and can provide virtually any part needed to maintain, repair and restore an Imp based Clan. It also has some parts available for the Clover model. It has out of stock parts re-manufactured and holds a stock of laminated windscreens produced by Pilkington using the Club owned mould.
The Club operates a Historic Register in order to maintain a record of each car and has listed virtually all known remaining Clans. It is know that over half of the Original Crusader Model still exist and all cars are listed on the Clubs register.
